I am a long time martial arts student and have been extremely pleased to be learning from Master Instructor Ron for the past three and a half years, My training with him began in-person but moved to the online zoom format in March of 2020. Ron's expertise continues to shine through in the online format as much as it did in live training. I currently participate in a group class, periodic special training seminars, and a weekly private lesson. His depth of knowledge and attention to details regarding what students are learning is first rate. I previously studied with several other Tai Chi Chuan instructors, and I can say without reservation that Ron's teaching is far and above the quality of training I received before. Ron's teaching style is gentle and meets the student at whatever level they are at. However, he will challenge you to go beyond what you may think you can do but within the limits of reason. He is always focused on safety first in your training. If you are seeking an honest, caring, and professional Tai Chi instructor, you will be hard pressed to find anyone better suited to helping you achieve a greater level of expertise and deeper understanding of the art than Master Ron.
I do NOT like doing things online that I feel should be done in person. However, Ron is that good!!! He shares the perfect amount of information so that I don’t get overwhelmed. This, in turn, relaxes me and I’m able to enjoy the session instead of stressing if I’m doing everything correctly. He is patient, kind and has a great attitude. But beware! He is a rare one and his time slots are going quickly. I am blessed to have found him.
Ron is the real deal. Great to work with, friendly, positive, level headed, and really knows his stuff, as well as how to teach it to you.
I have been practicing with Ron for 2 years now. I have taken lessons online and in person with a variety of different teachers in a variety of different subjects and I can tell you without question that Ron is one of the best teachers/ instructors I have ever had the good fortune to work with. Ron is highly trained and proficient in tai chi and martial arts generally. His knowledge goes far beyond "just teaching you the moves" and goes into the the history and martial arts genesis of tai chi and its integration with Chinese philosophy and medicine. As has been said in other reviews, Ron teaches REAL tai chi. He goes beyond the classic tai chi forms and adds supplemental exercises and techniques to improve your tai chi and general strength, power, balance, flexibility, mental focus and calm confidence. Whether your interest is in the classic Yuan or Chen forms of tai chi, sword, fan or even going a bit afield and picking up some nunchaku, you could not do better than signing up with Ron!
I feel we are off to a great start. Thanks!
Ron is an excellent and attentive teacher. He is very attuned to his students abilities, health constrains and inspirations. Ron knows how to make me move forward without clanging me too much and at the same time to achieve a progress. I am looking toward our lessons every week with the expectation to learn something new or refine my practice. Even though I started taking classed via zoom during the pandemic, these one on one instructions enabled me to make a tremendous progress in my practice. I hope to continue to learn from Ron a great more and to borrow from his bottomless optimism: we all need some positivity in our lives during these challenging times. Ron, many thanks for everything!
I was nervous about our first lesson, and there was no need to be! Ron was patient and kind, and went at the slow pace we wanted. And this is REAl tai chi!
I wholeheartedly recommend taking classes with Ron. I think of his classes as Tai Chi 360. He covers all of the bases from learning the actual form, to health benefits, to breathing, to how the energy is moving, to the philosophy, to the martial aspects, everything. He is responsive and open to all questions. Even though I've been taking strictly online classes, Ron manages to make you feel like you're part of a Tai Chi community with the other students. Learning the forms can be a real challenge for me because of my limited success in being able to watch a mirror image and do it myself and the problem of remembering the movements. But Ron is very patient when showing the movements and he gives great verbal cues. Don't hesitate to join because you are a beginner or think you are too advanced. All levels are addressed, no just teaching to the lowest common denominator. Sign up - this is a great chance to really learn Tai Chi!
Ron is an excellent teacher. He says that you learn Tai Chi in layers. He begins by teaching the broad outlines of a form. Then he starts drilling down on the particulars, continually challenging you to improve your skills and techniques in all forms. I always feel safe and supported as I gain valuable knowledge and feedback during my lessons.
Ron has excellent training and generously passes this along to his students.
